Life in the Spirit Seminar 2026
Join Fountain of Life Catholic Charismatic Renewal for the Life in the Spirit Seminar, a journey designed to help us deepen our relationship with God, experience the Holy Spirit more fully, and discover the spiritual gifts He has given us. The seminar runs every Friday from 14 August to 16 October 2026, with evenings centred on growing in faith and living more fully in the Spirit. Sessions run from 6:45pm to 9:00pm, with an extended session from 8:00pm to midnight on the last Friday of each month. Come and be renewed. Come and be empowered. Come and live in the Spirit.
Living Flame
Living Flame is a weekly talk and social hosted by the Discalced Carmelites. Topics we cover include the Carmelite charism, scripture, the works of the saints, and more. Every week, we aim to deliver information that you can carry with you in your real life as well as friendship and community. All are welcome.
Catechists' Course, Day 3: First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and The Liturgy of the Word with Children
Join us for the final day of the diocesan Catechists' Course. All sessions are open to all catechists within the diocese, but please note some will be running at the same time, so please specify which sessions you will attend when booking. We will run four sessions, two at the same time in the morning and two at the same time in the afternoon. Morning: Preparing Children for their First Reconciliation, and The Liturgy of the Word with Children. Preparing Children for First Reconciliation is primarily for those involved in preparing children to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time, but will also help other catechists discuss Reconciliation with teenagers and adults; it will help them understand the Sacrament better, its development, purpose, and how to encourage others to engage with Reconciliation meaningfully. The Liturgy of the Word with Children is for those who lead Children's Liturgy in parishes, helping them understand the principles of liturgy, particularly the Liturgy of the Word in Mass, and consider ways to share Scripture with children, using ideas and resources in keeping with the Directory for Masses with Children and the Guidelines from CBCEW. Afternoon: Preparing Children for their First Holy Communion, and Preparing Teenagers for their Confirmation. Preparing Children for First Holy Communion is primarily for those preparing children in the parish for their First Holy Communion; it will help catechists understand the Mass, consider themes, methods, and resources for FHC catechesis, and how to share our understanding with children and others. Preparing Teenagers for their Confirmation is for those involved in Confirmation catechesis; it will discuss how catechists can work best with teenagers preparing to be Confirmed, how we can understand the development of Confirmation, what should be included in Confirmation catechesis, and the methods and resources used. We invite First Holy Communion catechists to attend First Reconciliation (morning) and First Holy Communion (afternoon); Children's Liturgy leaders to attend The Liturgy of the Word with Children (morning) and First Holy Communion (afternoon); and Confirmation catechists to attend Confirmation (afternoon) and First Reconciliation (morning). Certificates for completing the course will be handed out at the end of the afternoon around 4:30pm, so we encourage everyone to stay for the whole day. Please book in advance and bring a packed lunch.
Mini-Pilgrimage: Farm Street to St James’s
Learn traditional songs sung by Pilgrims and join in a mini-pilgrimage from Farm Street to St James’s, learning these songs along the way. Pilgrimage Ceremony: Sunday 17th October 11am-1pm Learning Sessions: Sun 4th October: 16:00-18:00 (Farm Street) Wed 14th October: 19:00-21:00 (St James’s) To sing in the final ceremony you should have attended at least one rehearsal. No prior musical experience is required. Whilst the Young Adults Group of both churches are assisting in the organisation, this event is open to all. There is a minimum donation of £10 to cover the cost of learning materials and refreshments. Please message event organisers if you’d like to take part

Join us as Georgia Gilhooly leads an exploration of C.S. Lewis, one of the twentieth century’s best-known Christian writers and thinkers. We’ll consider Lewis and his engagement with Christianity as part of Deo Gratias’ wider exploration of the Catholic faith and its expressions in culture.
Talk & Social: The Return of Mary?
Are we seeing a return of devotion to Mary as a figure who can unite Christians? Join us for the Rosary Shrine Lecture 2026, as Swedish Christian author and former Protestant pastor Ulf Ekman explores the role of Mary in the Churches today, taking inspiration from Anders Widoff’s sculpture Maria (The Return) in Uppsala Cathedral. Ekman founded and led a large Protestant church in Sweden for three decades before being received into the Catholic Church with his wife Birgitta in 2014. Revd Ewan King, pastor of Heath Street Baptist Church, will give a response to the lecture. The evening will conclude with a reception in the parish hall.
70th Anniversary of Consecration - Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane
On 18th October 2026, we will be celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Consecration of Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane at the hands of Bishop Craven in 1956. There will be a sung Mass in Latin, celebrated by His Eminence, Vincent Cardinal Nichols at 11:30am. All are most welcome to come and celebrate this anniversary with us! Those who are unable to be here in person can join the live stream.
