Answering Your Questions about Mary and the Immaculate Conception (Fr. Mike Schmitz) 3. Why Mary Matters (Bishop Robert Barron) 4. The Rosary Story (Christian Family TV) We’ll dive into the history, theology, and scriptural foundations behind the Rosary and Marian devotion. Whether you’ve always prayed the Rosary or are curious about it, this is for you. Plus: pizza, snacks, drinks & refreshments. Bring friends, come with questions, stay for the conversation and the food! 🙋 Who Are the Speakers? Fr. Mike Schmitz is a Catholic priest known for contemporary, engaging teaching. He often helps mature believers and newcomers alike understand Church teachings in a way that connects with daily life. He'll guide us through both how the Rosary developed and common questions & misunderstandings about Mary (e.g. the Immaculate Conception). Bishop Robert Barron is a theologian, speaker, and founder of Word on Fire. He has a gift for showing how classic Church doctrine is not just ancient history, but alive — how Mary’s role is deeply embedded in Scripture, tradition, and our spiritual life. His talk Why Mary Matters offers insight into Mary’s titles, her example, and what her “yes” to God means for us. 🔍 Why This Topic Is Relevant Rooting devotion in history & Scripture helps us pray with understanding, not just habit. Knowing where the Rosary comes from, what Mary’s role is, helps us pray more deeply. Addresses common objections: Many Catholics — and many non-Catholics — struggle with misunderstandings around Mary, the Immaculate Conception, and devotion. We’ll unpack these so people can see the rationale. Helps grow spiritual life: Praying the Rosary is more than repetition; it’s meditating on the life of Christ with Mary as companion and example. As Bishop Barron would say, Mary helps bring Christ into our lives in spiritual ways. Community & formation: This kind of event builds faith, equips young adults, and gives tools for witnessing faith in a culture where many questions about tradition and doctrine are raised. Don’t forget to join the community to know when we post new events! Whether you came to our launch or you’re brand new, this is the perfect time to jump in and be part of a growing community of young adults (18–35) living, working, and studying in the East End.
