About This Event

Join us for an inspiring evening as Fr Royston Price, CSsR explores one of the most beautiful and often misunderstood teachings of the Catholic Church: the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Many people mistakenly believe that the Immaculate Conception refers to the conception of Jesus. In this talk, Fr Royston will explain the true meaning of this doctrine, why the Church teaches that Mary was preserved from original sin from the first moment of her conception, and how this mystery reveals God's plan of salvation through Christ. Drawing from Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the teaching of the Church, he will help us deepen our understanding of Mary's unique role in salvation history and what her example means for our own journey of faith. Fr Royston Price, CSsR was born into an Anglican farming family in Wales and was received into the Catholic Church in his early twenties after studying theology and being influenced by Catholic friends. Inspired by St Alphonsus Liguori, he joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) at the age of 25 and completed much of his priestly formation in London, including at Allen Hall Seminary. Ordained to the priesthood in 2020, Fr Royston has ministered primarily in Birmingham and London, preached missions in Zimbabwe and throughout the United Kingdom, and now serves at the Redemptorist monastery in South London as Missions Co-ordinator and Vocations Director for the Redemptorists in the UK.
