About This Event

Following our session on the Good Samaritan where we explored "Who is my neighbour?", we'll be exploring that question in a modern setting. Intouchables follows an unlikely friendship between two men from completely different worlds, where care grows from an ability to see the person beyond the disability and misfortune. It allows us to see how we might help people without making them a personal project or "charity case". As you watch, notice how dignity matters more than pity, how both men are changed, and how joy and friendship become part of healing. Like the Good Samaritan, this story challenges the idea that love has to look polished or impressive. What to watch for as you watch 1. How care becomes relationship, not obligation 2. How dignity matters more than sympathy 3. How both men are changed, not just the one being cared for 4. How joy, laughter, and risk become part of healing 5. How love crosses boundaries of class, culture, and comfort Reflection points after the film 1. Who are we treating as a project rather than a person in our private lives. 2. When does helping quietly become patronising 3. What makes Driss different from everyone else in Philippe’s life 4. How does presence sometimes matter more than solutions 5. In what ways are we called to be neighbours, not saviours
