Trail: The Ridgeway Loops - Wendover Circular This month’s hike is a really special one! We’re extremely blessed and fortunate to have Fr Toby Lees coming with us on this hike, where he will also be celebrating the Holy Mass on the summit of one of the hills we’ll be hiking up. Not only do you get to fulfill your Sunday obligation, but you also get to enjoy a beautiful hike with a great group of people while you’re at it! This special edition of the monthly hikes is a celebration of you all, and how much you’ve all contributed to this group, with the group growing to over 190 members since its inception in January of this year. We will be starting from Wendover Station, walking along parts of the Ridgeway (“Britain’s Oldest Road”), summiting some hills, attending Holy Mass on one of those hills, then making our way back to Wendover Station. On the way back, some of us will stop by one of the local pubs in Wendover to celebrate the completion of the hike with food/drinks. As this is a circular route, I’d suggest purchasing an open return ticket to give you the flexibility to return to London Marylebone at any time during the day, just in case you wanted to stay behind for drinks after the hike for example. The hike itself should take roughly 6 hours, planning for a total of 7.5 hours including breaks, Holy Mass and lunch. This means the hike will end at roughly 17:15/17:45. I’d suggest bringing plenty of water as always (especially since the weather is forecast to be really warm!), something substantial for lunch, and some snacks/sweets to keep you going during the hike. Also to give people a heads up, I’m going to be bringing my camera to take some photos along the way, as I think it’s a great way to help us remember the hike and the interactions we have along the way. For those who don’t want to be photographed, please let me know and I’ll make sure I don’t take any photos of you.
